Learn to Do Machine Embroidery at The Sewing Space

Matilda Delves held a one day workshop at The Sewing Space on Feb. 25th

This was such a great day!  You know you’re in like-minded company when someone says, ‘I got to spend a few hours in Liberty’s notions section the other day’ and an envious gasp fills the room!  We all understand how wonderful that experience would be, but equally we had our own little pleasure by the beach digging through scraps of beautiful fabric and choosing silky coloured threads to embellish our designs.

Even if you’re able to re-create the same project at home this class could be for you.  It’s a delight to choose from other people’s stash and work all day in a bright, cheerful atmosphere with the only interruptions being the breaks for coffee, cake and lunch.  Matilda provides blanket wool for the foundation and you build up a design with fabric and black threads and embellish with coloured rayon threads and hand embroidery.

Matilda leads a very relaxed, helpful workshop.  If you’re short of inspiration or artistic ability she can step in and help you out.  Although I have to say, this was a very artistic group needing very little help.

I was very jealous that I couldn’t be making one for myself, so I cheated just a bit and bought one of Matilda’s great creations.  I’ve fallen in love with him already.

Don’t miss out!  The next classes are March 10th & March 25th  Just £45 all materials included.  You are welcome to bring favourite bits of your own for embellishing – fabric scraps, embroidery flosses etc. but it’s not necessary.

More classes will be scheduled – add your name to the list to be notified of the next dates.
