Herman Quilt

A 5” square ruler or similar is useful if you have one (optional)

Fabric

For a quilt 49”x 57” you will need:

Centre squares – can be fussy cut

1/2m darks

3/4m lights

For the blocks:

3/4m total assorted darks to coordinate with dark centres (Mandy used blues)

3/4m total assorted lights to coordinate with light centres (Mandy used creams, taupes and greys) – we will work from 5” squares.

1 1/2m assorted mediums/brights (pinks, orange, red, yellow, mustard, caramel, mint) – these can be 4 ¾” squares.

More fabric may be required depending on size.

Neutral thread for piecing.

This fun quilt is ideal for using up 5” charm squares. The blocks seem to multiply as you make them, just like a Herman cake.

Suitable for improvers.

Note: If you are going to precut squares, starch the fabric before cutting.
